sunday 3:20 am
Let’s see. It’s 3 AM, at the end of a long day. And I’m online as long as I can stay awake, typing this into my notepad blog file for later transfer to the new Acid42 blog I decided to put up. It’s been awhile since I last blogged, and it was a secret work blog exposing the vulgarities of being a wage slave. Suffice to say, I’ve gotten out of that job in am back in the freelancing circuit.
Except it’s fast becoming a totally new exciting circuit filled with more music than I could ever have imagined.
Let’s see. A few days after deciding to decline a job opportunity at yet another corporate noose, a few days after deciding to pursue a more music-focused career path, a few days after deciding I want to FINALLY go for a music degree at the national university… I get not one, but two examples of grace and providence.
___+ A brash young theater company is putting up Midsummer Night’s Dream and wants it gritty, urban and filled with electronica. And so one of the artistic directors asks me if I want to come aboard. Do I !!!!!
___+ A weekly drama TV show is in need of a musical scorer. With copyrights and music clearances a pretty hot issue in local media, there have been crackdowns on local TV productions using canned music without paying the proper fees. And so, this show decides it wants original music and a friend recommends me to the director. Fantastic.
The future looks bright. And for the first time in a long while, I actually look at the future and dare to hope.
